For part of June & for the whole month of July, we are experimenting with a new system of play on the B side of the courts. We believe this system will provide more competitive opportunities for the stronger B players who do not, as yet, feel confident about playing on the A side with any regularity. Courts 1 & 2 have been set aside for those stronger B players, which leaves courts 3 & 4 for the less experienced or beginning players. One of the new aspects on courts 1 & 2 is that we are asking the winning team to split up after a victory and partner up with the incoming players. We realize that although this is a common practice in many other Pickleball facilities, this is a new concept at Crown Valley. We are respectfully requesting that you adhere to this new format on courts 1 & 2 through the month of July. The Steering Committee will meet toward the end of the month to evaluate how this system has worked. If you find, as a participating player on courts 1 & 2, that it is too objectionable to split with your current partner, you may give some thought to playing on courts 5 – 8.
Please keep the following Picklers in your thoughts and prayers: Sandy Hunter,
Joe Smart, Pat Kraft, Ron Russell, Gary Everson, Bob Amato, Ralph Kraft, Gene Hatz, Tony Hatcher, & Roy Pruneda
It’s good to see Lily Kojima, Debi Lazaro, Jean Simmons & SandyHunter back on the courts.
We have received disappointing news about the Acoustifence that we wanted to install on our fences for noise reduction as it relates to our nearby neighbors. Capistrano Unified School District has decided that the existing fencing would not support the weight of the sound reduction material. So, as of now, there will not be any installation in the near future.
On a more encouraging note, the County of Orange has finally agreed to create four (4) permanent Pickleball courts at the Laguna Niguel Regional Park on one of the tennis courts. The park is located on La Paz Road, near Aliso Creek Road. This is being funded by the City of Laguna Niguel. We were told that the courts will be completed this summer but there is no date set, as yet. We will announce it at the Crown Valley Courts, and on our website, as soon as we have all the details.
We are wishing GOOD LUCK to the following CVPB members & guests who will be traveling to Minneapolis, MN for the National Senior Games July 8 – 16:
