Dear Crown Valley Picklers,
Happy New Year to all of you. We are looking forward to another fine year of getting
great exercise along with having lots of fun competing with & against one another.
This is the “late edition” of your newsletter. Our desktop computer finally gave up the
ghost, so to speak. We replaced it with laptops as gifts to each other for Christmas.
The learning curve on lap tops and a new system is a steep one for these two 70+ year
old non-techies so we are sorry for the delay.
When we switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10, we lost all our contact lists.
So we are having to ask AGAIN if you want to receive our newsletters in your email
or would you rather just read it on our website (www.crownvalleypickleball.org )??
**Please respond once again, with a yes or no. Also, please add our email address to
your contact list in case you haven’t already done so.
**If you want to be removed from our contact list completely, please let us know
that you are no longer interested in CVPB. You won’t hurt our feelings if you want
to be removed.
Some Very Important Information:
Our Winter schedule ends Jan 31. Saturday Jan 30 is the last Saturday for open play until
the end of June. There is a conflict with Little League games on Saturdays regarding parking
spaces. Our agreement with the Parks & Rec Dept. of Laguna Niguel requires that NO
PICKLEBALL PLAY is allowed on Saturdays until their season is finished in June, 2016.
**However, this year we do have the option of playing at the Laguna Niguel Regional Park
(aka “Regional Park”) on La Paz Road near the intersection of Aliso Creek Rd. You may
purchase a yearly parking pass or pay on a daily basis for parking. Speak to the Ranger at
the entrance to the Park for your parking pass. There is no charge for playing Pickleball.
Be sure to take your own equipment, including balls. Crown Valley Pickleball does not
operate, or control, that 4-court Pickleball site. Please keep in mind that the more we
play Pickleball at the Regional Park, the more it will influence the County to strongly
consider the construction of a permanent Pickleball facility, there in the park.
January Pickleball Playing Schedule:
Monday – Saturday 9:00 – 12:00 noon
Sunday 10:00 – 1:00 pm (MUST stop play at 1:00 pm to respect the neighbors)
Afternoon Play: Mon – Fri 3:00 – 6:00 pm You MUST arrange you own matches with a club
member as there is no guarantee that the courts will be unlocked.
Memberships are now prorated @ $50 for the year, expiring Oct 31, 2016. If you have been
playing in November & December and haven’t yet renewed your membership, your dues
CVPB hired Roy Pruneda’s Tree Trimming Service to trim the 2 palm trees & the 3 pepper
trees that overhang the courts. Thanks Roy & your crew for helping to keep us looking well
groomed and the courts clean from leaves and other debris.
Also, we want to thank Tyler Anderson for his faithfulness in washing the courts and
backdrops each month. We often get positive comments on how well our courts & the
whole facility are maintained.
AED & First Aid Class – Originally scheduled for Wed. Jan 13 has been postponed until
Please keep the following players in your thoughts and prayers: Mernie Curb, Ron Russell,
Tony Hatcher, Joe Smart, Sandy Hunter, Jackie Vohs, Connie Smart, & Jay Seidemann.
It’s good to see Bob Amato, Ralph Kraft, & Alan Vohs back on the courts again!

*PLEASE check the Lost and Found in the black box for your left behind items. With the cold
weather, players are wearing jackets & other warm garments, taking them off when they
warm-up and then leaving the courts without them! You might also look for your lost towels,
or better yet, take a clean one to claim for your own; we have dozens of them!
Here’s hoping for a Healthy and Happy New Year for all of us,
